Exchange 2007 reached end of support in April 2017 and the IT team knew they’d have to upgrade their Exchange environment and migrate their Exchange data along with it. The organization was also using legacy third-party archive tools (EMC EmailXtender and HP Consolidated Archive). Additionally, they had PSTs scattered across 65,000 users. With so many different data repositories, they were concerned with security, laptop refreshes, and compliance. To improve their data protection and compliance, the team sought solutions to migrate their mailbox and archive data to Exchange on-premises (getting rid of EmailXtender shortcuts in the process), move a segment of archive data to a specialized compliance tool, and upgrade their PSTs by finding and centralizing them.

Following a successful mailbox and archive migration with Quadrotech, and an on-site discussion and demo, the team was confident that Quadrotech could discover and migrate their PST content to an archive and/or Exchange on-prem. The Shared Scanner and Central Upload Agent enable Quadrotech to centralize PST content from the company’s file servers and move it successfully. With the migration to a supported and centralized environment, the company has prepared themselves for a potential move to Office 365 down the road.
