Having recently disposed of an operating division to a competitor, this client faced a strict deadline to migrate its legacy archive. With only one opportunity to ensure the migration took place, it was essential that the chosen solution worked ‘right first time’.

The client selected Quadrotech to provide a managed migration service, using its Archive Shuttle cloud tool. The data was to be extracted from a live Symantec Enterprise Vault (EV) environment and migrated into a new Microsoft Office 365 system.
With such a tight timeframe the priority was to ensure the archive was extracted rapidly and safely. No physical access to the source servers was allowed, but Archive Shuttle cloud merely needs local agents installed for it to work. Once these were running, Quadrotech’s migration specialists were able to commence the project, successfully extracting and verifying the last item just four hours before access to the source environment was cut altogether.
Owing to its highly sensitive nature, the client had strict ‘no trust’ and ‘no network connections’ policies governing the project. For this reason, Archive Shuttle.cloud’s offline capabilities were used, and the data was initially exported to several encrypted USB disks prior to ingestion by Office 365.
To minimize storage in the new environment, the migration process automatically de-duplicated items and flagged exceptions that needed manual intervention by Quadrotech’s migration specialists.
