New DLP Reports in Discover & Audit

5 Jun 2017 by Doug Davis

Data loss prevention is a powerful tool within Office 365 to prevent crucial data from leaving the boundaries of the organisation, but once configured it can still be a challenge to catch the actual triggered events as they happen. The brand new Cogmotive ‘Exchange DLP Events Reports’ and ‘SharePoint/OneDrive DLP Reports’ in Discover & Audit can help you overcome this challenge, and speed up the detection process.
The Exchange DLP Events Reports
This new report lists Data Loss Protection (DLP) events in Exchange Online when configured via Unified DLP Policy in Office 365. DLP policies are created and managed via the Security and Compliance console in the Admin Center. It is crucial to monitor any events whereby data could be a risk, or could be non-compliant with your DLP policies. Events will only appear once policies are configured and the event is triggered.

Use the timeline to review any events in your environment, and apply advanced filters to filter specific information, and to find the event or activity you need. Any filters applied will be reflected in the timeline view below.
The SharePoint Online/OneDrive DLP Reports
This report has the same function as Exchange DLP reports, but lists the Data Loss Protection (DLP) events in SharePoint Online/OneDrive. Like the Exchange DLP policies, the SharePoint Online and OneDrive DLP policies are created and managed via the Security and Compliance console in the Admin Center, and events will only appear once policies are configured and the event is triggered.

The timeline function is also similar, and allows detailed filtering to find specific information, events and activities. Any filters applied will be reflected in the timeline view below.
