Microsoft Ignite: Your Complete Guide to Orlando

4 Sep 2018 by Becci Velzian

This blog was written in 2018, however most of the information is still relevant. If you’re attending Microsoft Ignite 2019, Quadrotech’s booth is 841.

So, you’re in Florida for a week during Microsoft Ignite? But what else is there to see other than Quadrotech’s Booth 1037…

There is more to The Sunshine State than just roller coasters, Walt Disney, and turkey legs. In this blog, we share some ideas on things to do whilst you’re there, especially if you have a couple of extra days before or after the event.

First things first, food.

The food choices are endless in Orlando but here are some of our favorite eateries. We recommend booking these prior to your visit to avoid disappointment!

Café Tu Tu Tango

Fancy discovering one of Florida’s hidden secrets whilst at Microsoft Ignite?

Head to Café Tu Tu Tango for bohemian vibes, authentic tapas, vibrant artwork, dazzling dancers, and music. This unique restaurant can be found just off the International Drive and only a 6-minute drive from the Orange County Convention Center.

Café Tu Tu Tango describes their menu as “extensive, eclectic and diverse”. The inventive café offers cuisine inspired by Spain, Vietnam, Morocco, America and more. Their dishes are reasonably priced ranging from $5 – $12 and the tapas-style dining is ideal for sharing with your colleagues or snacking during happy hour. Prepare to be wowed by awakening aesthetics, cultural entertainment, uplifting music and not to mention the chocolate dipped cheesecake pops (mmm…). A perfect way to unwind after Microsoft Ignite!

Sounds good, right? Head over to 8625 International Drive, Orlando, FL, 32819.

Seito Sushi, Sand Lake

Our Quadrotech team liked the way it rolled last year at Seito Sushi.

If you and your team want to venture a tad farther from the convention center and explore the best of Asian cuisine in Orlando, this is the spot. The extensive, mouth-watering menu offers classics such as bao buns, gyoza, tempura and Korean ribs. Moreover, you can also expect an imaginative variety of seafood and meaty sushi dishes including salmon, yellowtail tuna, lobster, and chicken. The Quadrotech team enjoys having sushi for dinner while at events. It’s a nice change from a steakhouse, which is delicious but sometimes too heavy.

Not only does Seito Sushi have great cuisine, it is an 8-minute drive from the convention center, making this restaurant all you need and ‘dim sum’ after a long day at Microsoft Ignite!

Hit it up at 8031 Turkey Lake Rd #700, Orlando, FL 32819, USA.

Things to do

Fun Spot

Do you and your team sometimes get ‘cabin fever’ during events? Not only in the convention center but also in the hotel?

Well, there’s no better way of blowing off some steam than venturing over to Fun Spot on International Drive, just 11-minutes down the road from the Microsoft Ignite venue. It offers a great atmosphere for team building or just thrashing your colleagues on one of the five legendary go-karting tracks.

If becoming a racing champion isn’t really your thing…

Animal lovers looking for a memorable experience outside Microsoft Ignite can explore the Gator Spot to meet some real Florida baby gators! Here you can feed the little snappers, but don’t worry, they’re only little, so you can still shake hands and grab a bag of swag the next day.

For the adrenaline junkies who don’t have time to drop into one of the many theme parks in Orlando. Fun Spot has a mind-blowing VR simulator you can whirl around on to exhilarate you after a long day at the show and get you pumped for that night!

If you fancy a spot of fun, find it at 5700 Fun Spot Way, Orlando, FL 32819.

Shop till you drop

Have you been yearning for that new, expensive Smart Watch strap to wear to Ignite? Or maybe you’ve really outlived those sneakers?

Well, if you fancy some self-indulgence or if your loved one has been making some very subtle hints about a certain purse…head on over to Orlando International Premium Outlets, the city’s most popular shopping destination! You can find the never-ending brand list here.

The beauty of this retail paradise is that everything is cheaper than in normal stores, so you can expect to find the high-quality products you’ve been longing for at affordable prices. Last year, Quadrotech’s UK team was particularly blown away by the discounts, and easily filled a second suitcase.

Only an 11-minute drive from the Orange County Convention Center, you won’t have to carry your bags far! Head to 4951 International Dr, Orlando, FL 32819, USA.
