Identify Users using Lync Online in Office 365

Microsoft have created a new PowerShell cmdlet for Office 365 which allows you to report on how many users are actively using Lync Online within your Office 365 environment. Unfortunately it’s pretty useless and only works on the new version of Office 365 (Wave 15).
Our own Office 365 Reporting solution offers a much more detailed view of this Lync Online reporting information.
To get the information yourself using PowerShell you can use the Get-CSActiveUserReport cmdlet. The full write up is available on Microsoft TechNet.
You can see it in action below. It basically lists out how many people connected to Lync Online each day. You can use the ReportType switch to break this down into Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly statistics.
