We’re happy to announce the new major Version of EVnearSync for General Availability within the next 14 days.

Automated Storage-Failover, a delayed deletion of deleted archived items in the second datacenter, enhanced housekeeping jobs and a very user friendly and modern web administration interface are the main new features. Also we have improved several existing features like reporting and alerting.

EVnearSync allows customers to get rid of a traditional backup approach for Symantec’s Enterprise Vault archiving system. It provides a Recovery Point Objective (maximum allowed data loss) of zero and a Recovery Time Objective (duration after disaster until system is operational again) of some seconds. It works with any kind of storage.

The new version is free of charge for customers with maintenance contracts.

New Version of PST FlightDeck available soon

We are happy to announce version 2.7 of PST FlightDeck with a new option to ingest PST files directly into Microsoft Exchange 2010 and significant new features for the existing Symantec Enterprise Vault connector.

PST FlightDeck helps medium and large companies to establish a solid workflow when migrating PST files to a central location like Exchange 2010 or Enterprise Vault. Reasons for PST Migration could be implementing a VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) Strategy, cost optimization as well legal and compliance reasons.

PST FlightDeck has a “Client-driven” approach using Microsoft BITS-Technology for uploading data. Even if a user unplugs his device and reconnects later, the upload continues. Uploaded Files are “Post-processed”: The Files are freed from passwords, optionally backed up and preflight checked for consistency. Finally they get filtered for unwanted data and deduplicated before the ingestion starts. PST Migration is not only a technical issue – the whole process has to be covered end-to-end!

QUADROtech announces EVnearSync cloud edition

The Swiss software company QUADROtech announced today that it will be releasing a cloud edition of QUADROtech EVnearSync soon.
EVnearSync allows customers who work with Symantec Enterprise Vault to have the benefit of zero data loss and higher availability in disaster cases. Furthermore, normal backups of the archiving storage are not needed anymore thus lowering operational costs tremendously.

The cloud version in its smallest edition with 10 TB of storage space will cost less than 9’000.00 USD.

Until now, smaller companies which do not operate a 2nd Datacenter won’t be able to use the modern object based replication approach. Now this is possible as Target-Storage in a second Datacenter for EVnearSync Customers isn’t needed anymore! For large environments cloud storage might reduce costs compared to locally operated systems, which can be calculated with a tool that will be available for download on our webpage soon.

GlassHouse EVtools acquired by QUADROtech

The New Year sometimes brings changes, and so it is for the former EV Tools products.
The EVTools development division of GlassHouse has been split off from GlassHouse into a separate entity called QUADROtech as of 1^st of January 2012. QUADROtech has acquired the entire EVTools suite and taken over the whole development team. Michel Zehnder, Wayne Humphrey and Peter Kozak will manage the new company.
